FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR

The purpose of the fuel pressure regulator is to control and maintain constant fuel pressure by making the system work at the design pressure for a correct function and at the same time, protecting the circuit from overpressure.

LOCATION

Depending on the vehicle´s electronic injection system, it may be in the fuel module or in the injection rail itself.

CAUSES OF FAILURE

• Damaged or worn regulator seals
• Defective component
• Breakage of the internal spring

POSSIBLE FAULT SYMPTOMS

• Fuel leaks
• Problems when ignition
• Failures when accelerating
• High fuel consumption
• Excessively rich mixture
• Black smoke in exhaust pipe
• Loud noises
• Darkened spark plugs by excess of fuel
• Abundance of fuel in the internal combustion chamber
