FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
The purpose of the fuel pressure regulator is to control and maintain constant fuel pressure by making the system work at the design pressure for a correct function and at the same time, protecting the circuit from overpressure.
LOCATION
Depending on the vehicle´s electronic injection system, it may be in the fuel module or in the injection rail itself.
CAUSES OF FAILURE
- Damaged or worn regulator seals
- Defective component
- Breakage of the internal spring
POSSIBLE FAULT SYMPTOMS
- Fuel leaks
- Problems when ignition
- Failures when accelerating
- High fuel consumption
- Excessively rich mixture
- Black smoke in exhaust pipe
- Loud noises
- Darkened spark plugs by excess of fuel
- Abundance of fuel in the internal combustion chamber
